Sir
Sub: Complaining about inadequate and poor quality of water supply
This is to bring to your kind notice, the troubles faced by the Sunshine Town concerning the supply of water. The municipal corporation water supply is erratic and the quality of the water supplied is poor, thus compounding our troubles.
Two years of severe drought had resulted in the drying up of the lakes and ponds in the Sunshine Town. This left us at the mercy of the Corporation Authorities for water supply for drinking and washing purposes. In these times of severe water crisis, the supply of water has been irregular. The supplied water fills our sumps only twice a week and only half of the sump is filled even then. Besides, the quality of the supplied water is poor. Reddish brown in colour, with floating rubbles, the water is hardly fit for drinking even after boiling. Nor is the sump water fit for washing clothes, vessels for it leaves white scum on washing. The safety of drinking the supplied water may be questionable. After drinking this water, a little girl in our neighbourhood had suffered from diahorrea and vomiting!
It is high time that the corporation authorities take action to improve the water supply to the Sunshine Town. This could be done by building storage tanks at various points in the locality. These tanks could be filled at least thrice a week with the help of water tankers. In addition, the supply of water to the sumps should be more regular. It would benefit us a lot if the sumps could be filled on alternate days. In addition, steps should be taken to enhance the quality of the water, with the help of better filtration, purification techniques. With such measures in place, the corporation could indeed prevent a health crisis in our locality.
I request you to publish this letter so that the concerned authorities may look into this issue as soon as possible.
Thank you
Yours sincerely
Roberta Brown
